Best Methods to a Clean Home, Fast

Just imagine you get an unexpected visitor or only a moments notice that a friend is popping by… Where does your mind go? Mine, goes to “Oh my goodness, I don’t want this person to see my house like this”.  Let me just say, it is amazing how fast you can pick up and tidy when you know someone is coming over soon.  Or it could be me, but I am confident that I am not alone!

After imagining the above scenario, how do you define a clean home? It would be easy to throw out suggestions and leave them with you, but the best place to begin is for you to define what is important to you, not only for guests, but for you to enjoy yourself.  I do not know about you, but I feel a little less frazzled when my home is order.

Here are a few ways I use to keep things in control and if I am being honest when I do not follow my suggestions my house goes down hill fast!

    * When you make a mess, try to clean it up and not leave it for later.
    * Do not leave a room empty handed if there is an item that needs to be put away.
    * Follow a one-touch rule with papers.
    * Find a place for items and put them away.
    * Put your dirty laundry up before you leave home.
    * Keep a set of cleaning supplies easily accessible (i.e. bathroom counter wipes and mirror cleaner in each bathroom and do every other day).
      * Reduce clutter.  Give your self an “outbox”.  If you are not ready to part with an item you no longer use, then put it out of sight.  If you have not missed it after a week or two then you are ready to part with it.

If you have other suggestions, I would love to hear them :)

The most important thing to remember is there is such a balance to keeping a clean home and LOVING on the people in our homes!

Proverbs 24:3: “By wisdom a house is built, & through understanding it is established.”

Proverbs 14:1: “The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.”
