Rest Equals Refreshment

“God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks.  It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God.  It’s a good thing when you’re young to stick it out through the hard times.  When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself.  Enter the silence.  Bow in prayer.  Don’t ask questions:  wait for hope to appear.  Don’t run from trouble.  Take it full-face.  The ‘worst’ is never the worst.”  Lamentations 3:25-30 MSG

Maybe I am simply speaking for myself or maybe my personal daily afflictions resonate with other women.  I find it hard to look at my life and try not to control every aspect and detail.  Then, when things do not go my way I try to figure out how to “fix” the situation or the person that is not cooperating.  I find myself getting to a point of utter disappointment, frustration, and fear.  What if I mess up or am the reason for someone else not reaching their potential? Let’s face it, little decisions can matter just as much as big decisions.  Life can be scary sometimes if we focus on only what we see or think we can control.

I am starting to realize that when I get to a point of constant frustration or simply being overwhelmed to the point of not knowing where to start on controlling what is around me, is when I need to step away from it all and just have myself a moment! A moment where I completely put aside my lists, my agenda, my emotions and turn on the worship music and just soak in His presence.  In putting myself to the side and focusing on God and how he wants to use me and those around me brings such a peace and truly puts life into perspective.  Thank you, Jesus, I am not on my own, because that is exhausting!

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30 NIV

Dear God, thank you for taking care of us and carrying our burdens ALL of the time.  Please speak to our tender hearts as women and let us know that there is strength in stepping back from our busyness and overwhelming lives to just meditate on your word and wait for hope and peace in where we should direct our attention.
