He is the Giver of Peace

Have you ever met a person who seems completely content with their circumstances? A person who is going through more than you could ever imagine; yet their joy never falters. I have met a few people like this and they are rare. They have Jesus shining from them. They are the living image of his love and peace. Jesus is called the “Prince of Peace” in Isaiah 9:6.

Jesus is peace.

I struggle terribly with being peaceful at all times. Like Albert Einstein said, “Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding.” As humans we need God’s wisdom to achieve His kind of peace. This can only be done by reading the Bible daily and applying it to our lives. God gave us the Bible as manual for our lives.

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.” –2 Thessalonians 3:16

He will give us peace if we ask. It is truly hard to be at peace when you get told devastating news. It’s hard to keep the peace when someone attacks your family or integrity. But, I believe James had it right in James 1:19; “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry…” Doing these things will save you a lot of grief in the long run.

Jesus tells us in John 14:27 that He gives us peace: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” He even says to us to not be troubled. It is so amazing to me what treasures and knowledge I find the more I read God’s Word.

I will leave you with a verse from Isaiah that really spoke to my soul as well as a quote from Mother Teresa.

Remember that nothing can make God love us less or remove His peace from us. He freely gives His peace for anyone who needs it.

” ‘Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,’ says the LORD, who has compassion on you.” –Isaiah 54:10

“Peace begins with a smile…” -Mother Teresa
