Sacrifice and Pride

It is said that moms know what sacrifice is. They make the ultimate sacrifices for their children, household, day in, day out.

I am not downing moms in any way. In fact, whenever I see this I raise my head proudly and say, “YEP! I am a mom!! It’s all about my kids and my husband and my house!!!!”

This is where I have gone wrong. I think the world has a messed up view on sacrifice. The result of the world’s view of sacrifice is PRIDE.

This is not God’s view on Sacrifice. Do you think for one moment Jesus rose and said “DID you see what I did for you?!  Yes, I am The Man!!!” No!!!  He never once was Prideful.

Pride is a Sin. He comes to you instead and says, “See what I have done for you so you can be free. Come to the Father and he will give you rest.” He is not Prideful. He is Humble. As should we be.

When I go to bed at night and think about the daily duties I have done, I want to thank God for giving me a home to take care of; children and a husband that need my love and support. I am called to take care of them, as well as to sacrifice my SELF to Jesus’ way of living. Not through the flesh but through the Holy Spirit day in and day out. THIS is sacrifice. Humble sacrifice.

Lord, I thank you for the blessings you have given me in my life. I pray that we take the sacrifices we do daily and not become prideful but remain and stay humble and thankful to you for nothing can compare to the ULTIMATE sacrifice, your son for our sins. Please help us in this walk, Lord, and I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen!
